From May 5th to 7th a delegation of eight teachers from Belgium visited several HETEL-affiliated vocational education and training (VET) scools in the Basque Country. The visit, organized by HETEL’s international coordinator, aimed to showcase the region’s innovative approaches to VET, adult education, and support systems for diverse learners, including immigrants and students with special needs.
The group toured Maristak Durango VET School, where they learned about the VET system, the Basque ecosystem, and specialization programs like cybersecurity. On Wednesday, they visited Centro Integrado de FP Otxarkoaga in Bilbao, focusing on language support for immigrants and the management of special needs students. The visit concluded at Peñascal Kooperatiba, where the delegation explored adapted learning itineraries, enterprise-based learning, and enjoyed a lunch prepared by students at the school’s restaurant.
Next week, HETEL´s management board visits two of the schools from this Belgian network. Looking forward to learning from your VET system!
